WHAT IS REQUIRED

Basic literacy or the tenth grade as an alternative. The 12th grade is an additional advantage. – A driver’s licence that is still valid (additional advantage). – Strong aptitude for interacting with others and communicating effectively (must be bilingual). – Capability to follow and carry out directions being offered to one. Good physical health, fundamental skills, and the ability to perform manual labour are also required. A self-disciplined individual who puts in a lot of effort. The candidate must have a minimum of one year of experience working in general tasks connected to waste management within the Local Government Authority.

OBLIGATIONS

-Is responsible for the control of litter as well as any other general labour that is associated with the operation of a waste disposal plant. – General care of landfill and activities. Assist at the recycling centre whenever it is required. In order to direct and control the traffic in the dump, spotters need your assistance. Customers and the general public are assisted with the disposal of rubbish. – Removes metal and any other sharp things from the area in order to avoid the risk of customers having their tyres flat. – It is the responsibility of the individual to store the equipment in a secure manner once the duty has been completed in order to guarantee the safe maintenance of the protective clothing that is worn while working. Responsible for cleaning the pavements and removing any weeds that may be present. The individual is accountable for loading and unloading the items and equipment belonging to the section whenever it is necessary to do so. – Do not remove refuse from residential areas. The streets, pavements, taxi and bus ranks and other areas will be swept. – Picking of litter along the streets and important roads, including public open spaces. Streets and public trash cans should be left empty. – Cleaning up the garbage in front of the building, on the street, at the taxi and bus ranks, and in plain sight. Cleaning of municipal buildings and facilities is included in this service. – Carry out any additional responsibilities that may be assigned to you by the supervisor or manager within relation to the waste management section. – The execution of all legal orders given by the supervisor in order to guarantee the section’s productivity and guarantee that it runs smoothly. – Carry out any additional ad hoc activities and responsibilities that are associated with the position, as asked or necessary by management (supervisor) from time to time.

The salary range for this position is between R142 608.00 per year and R156 228.00 per year (Level 13 of a Grade 8 Local Authority). R265 897.52 per year is the whole package, which includes all of the perks.
