Bergrivier Municipality works to promote social welfare, economic development, community involvement, and efficient administration in a safe and healthy environment in order to guarantee the well-being of all communities within the Bergrivier region.
The following position is presently open at Bergrivier Municipality, which has its headquarters in Piketberg and is around an hour’s drive from Cape Town. Applications from qualified candidates who meet the minimal job criteria are welcome.

Requirements
•Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) in Grade 12
•NFPA 1582 Medical Test Code C1 driver’s license None
• however you have to be between the ages of 18 and 35.
•Conditions: Ability to speak, read, and write in at least two (2) of the Western Cape’s official languages (Afrikaans, English, isiXhosa)
•Willingness to work overtime and shifts as needed ∙ Willingness to work at any fire station, fire service facility, or section within the area of jurisdiction as determined by the Chief Fire Officer
• No criminal record (a police clearance document no older than three (3) months must accompany your application)
•Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks in harsh weather conditions The incumbent is required to pass a Departmental Physical Test upon admission and then again every year after that.
• Additionally, the incumbent must pass a medical test before being placed, after being offered a job, or baseline (which is done in service every year or every two years) that includes a drug test.
•Must be free from mental phobias associated with necrophobia (corpses), achluophobia (darkness), homophobia (blood), bathphobia (depths), claustrophobia (restricted places), and authophobia (isolation).
Job Purpose
• Under appropriate supervision,
•performs a range of tasks related to responding to and handling emergency rescue services, firefighting, basic medical care, fire prevention, training, operating and maintaining fire apparatus and equipment, maintaining fire station facilities, and other related work as needed to protect the lives and property of municipality residents in accordance with the Fire Brigade Services Act (Act 99 of 1987).
Key Performance Areas:
Once training and minimum qualification have been achieved, carry out firefighting activities and emergency operations under guidance, mentorship and supervision of seniors and officers-in-charge in order to minimize the risk to life and property as well as lives and property of the communities of the municipalities Preparing for emergency incidents and protection duties under guidance
the incidents and severity of fires, providing a safer environment for firefighters and communities Preparing for emergency incidents under guidance, mentorship and supervision of seniors and officers-in-charge to ensure that equipment and vehicles are safe, available and in sound working order for operational efficiency at emergency incidents as well as maintain a safe and hygienic working environment Performs
