About the Role

Food Lovers Market is seeking a friendly, proactive, and dependable General Assistant to support our store operations and ensure customers have an outstanding shopping experience.




Key Responsibilities

As a General Assistant, your day-to-day tasks will include:

Customer Service Excellence

Greet and assist customers with a positive attitude.

Help customers locate products and provide accurate information.

Promote current sales and special offers.

Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.


Sales Support & Operations

Operate POS systems (cash and card transactions).

Process refunds and exchanges accurately.

Assist with pricing, labeling, and promotional displays.


Stock & Merchandising

Receive and organize stock deliveries.

Keep shelves and fridges fully stocked and neat.

Report and correct incorrect price tags.

Help with regular stock takes.


Cleanliness & Safety

Maintain cleanliness in areas like storerooms and kitchens.

Dispose of waste correctly.

Follow health, safety, and emergency procedures.






Candidate Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

A Matric (Grade 12) certificate.

Previous experience in a General Assistant, General Worker, or Clerk role.

Proficiency in English.

A clear criminal record.

Residence within 25km of Midrand, Gauteng.





Preferred But Not Essential

South African citizenship.

Customer service background in a retail or food environment.
