Introduction

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to perform, among others, the following duties:
- Manage and control redundant assets;
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment;
- Ensure efficient and effective execution of section-related business processes;
- Complete internal item movements within set timeframes;
- Deliver new and used furniture to various departments;
- Respond to PeopleSoft requests promptly;
- Prepare transfer documents and ensure proper handover to the Store Manager;
- Clean vehicles and ensure they are ready for inspection;
- Assist with asset sales by attaching tender documentation and numbering items for disposal;
- Support store cleanliness and assist in numbering and tagging items for tender.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (Standard 8);
- At least 6 months of relevant work experience in areas such as:
- Store management
- Administrative functions
- Asset handling
Required Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of asset and store environments;
- Good communication skills (verbal and written);
- Self-disciplined and motivated;
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders;
- Professional email and telephone etiquette;
- Customer-oriented mindset;
- Task planning and prioritisation;
- Ethical conduct and professional integrity;
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities;
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric);
- 6 months of asset management experience in a university or similar environment;
- Valid Code 10 driver’s licence with PDP (Professional Driving Permit) is advantageous.
Remuneration and Benefits
The total annual remuneration package will be aligned with UP’s internal policies. The University contributes 50% towards monthly premiums for employees who subscribe to the Bestmed or Umvuzo medical aid schemes.
