About the Role
AFGRI is seeking a qualified and safety-conscious Boiler Operator to join our Isando operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of boilers to optimise steam production in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Training
- Grade 10 or equivalent
- Valid Boiler Operator Certificate
Experience
- At least 3 years of relevant experience
- Experience in an animal feed manufacturing environment will be an added advantage
Key Responsibilities
- Operate boilers safely and efficiently in line with operating manuals, SOPs, and checklists
- Perform pre-shift inspections and record all pressure readings on log sheets
- Conduct quality control water tests regularly
- Maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards
- Keep the boiler area clean and equipment well-maintained at all times
Technical Competencies
- Solid understanding of boiler operations and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
- Ability to complete boiler log sheets as required by law
Behavioural Competencies
- Self-motivated, dependable, and safety-driven
- Able to work under pressure
- Willing to work shifts, overtime, and public holidays as needed
