📌 About the Role
Seriti’s New Denmark Colliery is seeking a Faceboss UG (C4) to lead safe and efficient coal extraction operations underground. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with all safety legislation, driving production targets, and supervising mining teams.
As a Mine Health and Safety Act–appointed official, you will assist the Manager by enforcing regulations and maintaining safe operating standards underground.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Codes of Practice, SOPs, and legal requirements.
- Achieve operational plans and production targets.
- Lead, organise and control your designated mining section.
- Supervise, coordinate, and motivate the underground mining team.
- Enforce MHSA regulations as per:
- Section 7(4) – Carrying out delegated functions of the manager.
- Minerals Act Regulation 2.9.2 (Schedule 4.4) – Enforcing adherence to mining regulations.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
- Grade 11 with Mathematics/Math Literacy & English.
- DMRE Blasting Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an appointed Miner.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA)
- Coal mining safety, health & environmental standards
- Operational codes of practice
- In-depth understanding of underground mining & continuous miner operations.
- Knowledge of mine planning principles.
- Basic understanding of engineering principles.
- Good knowledge of mining equipment capabilities.
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s License (for personnel transporters/buses).
- Certificate of Fitness (or ability to obtain one).

- Safety Courses: S2 / ORMP
