About the Opportunity
Midvaal Local Municipality invites passionate and disciplined individuals to apply for its Fire Fighter Internship Programme (X12 positions). This is a 3-year contract opportunity for aspiring fire fighters who are eager to serve their community and gain valuable hands-on experience in fire and rescue operations.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- Firefighter 1 & 2 and Hazmat Awareness & Operations, or equivalent qualification.
- First Aid Level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course.
- Valid Code C Driver’s Licence.
- Medically and physically fit to perform operational duties.
- Must be able to swim.
- No phobias (e.g. claustrophobia or acrophobia).
- Experience or knowledge in fire and rescue will be an added advantage.
- 3-month internship experience in a similar environment will be beneficial.
- Self-disciplined, reliable, and hard-working individual.
Applicants from the Sedibeng Region will be given preference.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Respond to daily instructions and operational tasks as directed by the Station Officer.
- Ensure attendance and punctuality at the workplace.
- Conduct daily inspection and testing of vehicles and firefighting equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
- Report any faults or malfunctions to the officer on duty.
- Assist in firefighting operations under supervision of senior staff.
- Combat grassland, wildland, and structural fires.
- Protect property and firefighting assets.
- Perform rescue work and assist in emergency response operations.
- Carry out control room duties when assigned.
- Perform any other duties as delegated by superiors.
Remuneration
💰 R8 786.58 per month
(Equivalent to R105 439.00 per annum)
