Requirements

Minimum requirement:

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Experience:

  • Appropriate experience in a large-scale food service unit, including operating large kitchen equipment and preparing both normal and therapeutic diets.

Inherent requirements of the job:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks and operate heavy-duty kitchen and cleaning equipment.
  • Capable of working with cleaning materials, performing high-dusting, and lifting heavy equipment or supplies.
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and overtime when required.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

  • Ability to prepare meals following standardized recipes.
  • Knowledge of industrial kitchen safety and hygiene principles.
  • Basic understanding of conflict management.

Duties (Key Performance Areas)

  • Assist in the preparation and production of normal and therapeutic diets.
  • Dish, distribute, and serve food to patients in various wards.
  • Clean and maintain all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment in compliance with safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist with the receipt, safe storage, and issuing of food provisions and related items.
  • Provide informal in-service training to new staff members.
