Role Purpose
As a Rigger / Driver, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the successful transportation and setup of OB (Outside Broadcast) facilities for live productions. You’ll be responsible for the safe driving, rigging, and de-rigging of technical equipment, maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and communication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Delivery
Transport OB facilities safely to venues across the country.
Choose efficient routes with time-sensitive planning.
Manage and execute full rig setups under guidance from the OB Unit Technical Manager.
Maintain equipment and OB van condition to broadcast standards.
Conduct pre-trip inspections and ensure mechanical readiness.
Align all rigging activities with health and safety regulations.
2. Communication & Coordination
Liaise with stadium personnel and events teams for access and parking logistics.
Provide updates and report vehicle issues to Fleet & Logistics Manager.
Stay in contact throughout production schedules for any urgent needs or updates.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Matric Certificate or Equivalent
Valid EC ZA Driver’s License
Experience
2-3 years in a similar role
Hands-on experience in broadcast rigging and de-rigging
Familiarity with live broadcasting operations
Technical Skills
Project coordination
Fault detection and vehicle maintenance
Understanding of articulated vehicle mechanics
